Personally, I couldn't care less what some celebrity/actor/musician/whoever says in an interview, offensive or not.

Am I alone in not really finding what he said to be that offensive?

I didnt either. But to be honest, even if I did, so what? John Mayer (I dont even like the guy to tell ya the truth) has the right to say what he will, offensive or not.

To the original point, Mayer seems to try and be hilarious all the time.

Someone should explain the concept of "leaving them wanting more" to the guy.

There doesn't have to be a punchline at the end of every sentence.

I didn't care for him much, anyway.

There's also a reason I don't read celebrity interviews, and this is it. Who wants to find out that one of their favorite artists (hypothetically speaking, I could care less about John Mayer) is a jerk with a mouth at best, and a ***** obsessed racist at worst?

Who was it that said every musician wants to be a comedian, and every comedian wants to be a musician?

Yes, who really cares? This thread should have been left at TMZ (or the miscellaneous forum)

Good thing I already found his music boring.

He obviously knows his popularity is decreasing."Any publicity is good publicity" and all that.

Surprise, Surprise

Another (racially oriented) and overall ignorant comment by a rich jacka$$.

Just because Jauqo pointed the issue out has no relevence to its validity.

Mayer has talent but I don't believe he'll ever be able to play the "blues" as he wishes. You've got to live or have lived on the bottom to understand the emotion that blues creates. Blues isn't half a$$ed mocking Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie played with the emotion that earned him the respect of the forefathers of electric blues.

Mayer rode in on bubble gum pop that earned him $ and then he "became a blues guitarist".

As far as his use of the N word, I despise the use of the term by ANYONE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!

Race thread or not, as long as idiots of all backgrounds keep making ignorant remarks, in order to separate or make themselves "hip", the issue needs to be brought up.

God Bless, Ray

What Mayer said was just dumb. I just don't see what he thought he would gain by going where he did. I can't say I'm mad or upset because it isn't that important, but it was really, really dumb.

meh.. there are more important things going on in the world to be offended by what some dork says in an interview. I mean if people are looking to be offended, there's gold right there - have at it. But really...I've heard far worse than that by a long shot.

I'll take the issue one step further. I believe Mayer's comments were foolish and stupid as I said before he was probably trying to appear "hip". However I have just as much or more issue with Rappers/Hip Hop Artist and other young cats using an alternate of the N Word as a term of endearment rather than a pejorative.

IMO Black men have a power with the term in either form and I believe that power is most often misused, especially in entertainment.

God Bless, Ray

Ray, why do you feel the need to drag up rappers and the N-word? That's a pretty old issue that has already been debated. Do you feel a need to mention rappers to appear "even handed?" I ask because if you think Mayer spoke recklessly, then it was wrong on its own. It doesn't need to be referenced to some other indiscretion.

Better to be silent and have others think you're a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

I'm not upset either, but it wasn't just dumb, imo. It's a racist comment.

This idiot (John Mayer) went to my high school, so I'm not shocked either.

+1 on a mature assessment. This is a waste of time for real. Let's talk about things that matter. Like Bacon!!

I did not post this to say that John Mayer is a racist. I think his comments were ignorant and he some how may have realized it and he's trying to clean up his comments.
