Heading to New York

Sign in to disble this ad
I'll be heading to NY for business soon and wanted to get some suggestions from fellow TBers on any suggestions on what to do/see.

The last time I was up in NY was for a Carnegie Hall gig about 10 yrs ago. Being over 21 now, obviously there's more I can do. I'm staying at a hotel near Chinatown that has a swanky dance club type bar on the property - expensive drinks, bouncer, egos - the exact opposite of what I'm looking for.

Empire State Bldg, Statue of Liberty, Times Square - done all that before as has my coworker.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Cheap Shots
140 First Avenue

Pretty self explanatory. Sure, the shots come in plastic cups, but they're really cheap, so it doesn't matter.

Fat Cat

A good bar with lots of stuff to do

Rick's Pizza is always good.

Poking around side shops in China Town is always an experience too!

Even though it's closed now, it's cool to go to the Lower East Side and see CBGB's for history's sake (i was fortunate enough to play there years ago).

There's always the "touristy" stuff to do.

Unfortunatly (well... not in MY eye) i don't drink, so i can't really offer any insight into good bars/pubs.

As I always say about NYC. Stand in the subway with your back against a wall, and avoid the C.H.U.D.S. at all costs. When you find the president get to your glider immediately and get away. The Duke of NY is out there......

I actually have written a song called "The ballad of the CHUDS". IT starts out as a country song and turns into a ripping grindcore thing. IT sucks, but that is appropriate for the theme.

Everything you just said renders any "suckitude" null and void.
