I think it would be worse learning that after such a long time trusting someone.

Wow. That's sad. I have to wonder why she kept them, though...

Further proof that karma's a MF.

He'll probably be dead before the divorce is finalized.

I guess the word "forgiveness" just isn't in his vocabulary!

The story is somewhat vague, but I'm assuming the children are his, not the other guy's?

Apparently it was important enough to her to have kept the letters. One can forgive the body, the heart is another matter.

Devils advocate here, but maybe she kept the letters because she never forgave her self and wanted to remind herself she had to spend everyday making it up to her husband (or something to that effect).

Seems like the relationship must have had meaning to hang on to the letters for so long. I'm sure reading the outpouring of a strangers love for one' s wife must suck but, at this point why separate?

Now that sounds like total BS. If she wanted to make it up to her husband, she just needed to love him and be a good spouse. She did not need incriminating letters.

I read the original article in the Telegraph (UK.) There were having problems before the letter, and he had earlier moved out. I think there is a good chance that she pulled a lot of stuff on the man, and maybe even the children (at least some of them) are not biologically his. He probably feels like a sucker who has lived a lie for the past seventy plus years.

That would make me bitter too.

At that age, you don't have the sex, you don't have the distant future, you have the memories. His were dashed and she was sent packing. She ruined every good memory he had of her. I think it was probably the hardest thing, and the easiest thing he ever did in his life.

I feel for him, personally.
