The title says it all
In this thread I will be giving recomendations about bands and music I believe a lot of people should listen to.
Here I will be listing genres like:
Rock and roll (post Elvis) and variations of it
Metal, no genres, if I like it I'll post it
Now Jazz and stuff are for another person to recommend
I'll start this thread by recommending you: Metal Church Live
If you haven't listened to it, you might as well stop listening to opeth and start listen to some real metal

Hellbastard, (I think you should spell your name with all caps in the future) great call on the Metal Church. Now do I get to recomend one (like song uno?)?

I recomend Girls, Guns and Glory. They are the song in the Radio Shack commercial with all of the sheep in the road. I would classify them as alt-country. Great live show.

Sorry if I screwed up the concept, but it sounds fun the way I interpreted it.

Al

Opeth is progressive metal, not 'real' metal There is no real metal! Too many subgenres to choose between, and a hoard of people with different preferrences.

However you should try out Dimmu Borgir's newest album In Sorte Diaboli for some real symphonic black metal. Their bassist seems to get a bit lost in the mix without a real subwoofer, but his clean operaish vocals are truly friggin awesome. Buy Dream Theater's best of collection released soon Dream Theater's Greatest Hit (And 21 other pretty cool songs) also, DT rules, Myung is in my opinion by far the most thechnically skilled metal bassist (closely followed by Alex Webster, Simen Hestnęs (!) and perhaps Robert Trujillo (I love metallica see ^_^)) May I too bid you listen to Children of Bodom (Blooddrunk is amazing), Tool, Slayer, Metallica (Black ALbum and earlier), Enslaved and Canibal Corpse!

Ok, so let's have this as a "song uno" kind of thread:
Some rules though, If you post recommend another band, You MUST give feedback on the afore-mentioned band(s)
That way we will keep it nice, and it won't be just a bunch of people posting their Fav bands, You get to recommend only one band at the time and one album of them, that way we will have time to check 'em all out.

Now Crashbang: Girls, Guns and Glory, I think they're pretty good, I'm not a country fan though.
Nice music, solid bass player, nice guitar solos, The singer is a pretty standard country singer (vibrato and kind of laaazyyy way of singing, which is what turns me away from country) All in all a good band.

XtreO: where to begin, you listed a lot of bands, many of them I don't like, or liked before and now I think they've changed.
Let's start with DT, they really are talented musicians with an amazing career and lots of fans but IMHO they lack of feeling, Too many "I betcha ya can't play this" stuff which people like but I need something to really connect with a band, and In DT I don't find it.
Children of Bodom I have never liked. So I won't comment on them.
Tool: I prefer not to comment on them
Slayer: Amazing band in the 80's and early 90's. I love them up to the Seassons in the Abyss era.
Metallica: Awesome band too, but I like only, The first 3 albums and And justice for all, after that everything goes downwards (Major Metal might disagree though)
Enslaved is good I like The Split they made with Emperor, that the kind of sound enjoy in black metal.
As for cannibal Corpse I like 2 or 3 albums after that it all the same for me, I like their early albums the best.

Now I recommend you to listen:
Montrose-Montrose, rock band of the early 70's.

Check the nice P-bass
