Help with 5th generation 30gb ipod and iTunes problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi
I formatted my ipod through windows (fat32). After the format was complete I unplugged it from the USB. It now no longer is recognized by windows to install the player software. All it does when i plug it in is show the apple logo (which flickers intermittently) and make some kind of clicking sound?

I can't seem to install firmware, restor or update the device because itunes 7.6 (the latest one) won't launch on my computer (it installs fine, when i try to launch it, the process is launched but nothing is visible to me.

can anyone help with these strange problems?

thats why you don't use Windows...

I was going to try to help, but I have no idea what you should do.

i dont know... restart the computer for starters, then try to figure out whats wrong with iTunes, since if that is fixed I think everything else will start to work.

maybe completely uninstall iTunes if nothing else works, and reinstall it

I can't follow what you did. Your formatted your iPod to Fat32 through windows? Then you uninstalled iTunes and can't get it back installed?

What OS are you using? I think you need to uninstall, then go in and clean out all aspects of iTunes from your machine before reinstalling. I'd work on iTunes first. If you keep reinstalling on top of your existing corrupted version, you won't get anywhere. Start there. Once iTunes is reinstalled, you can restore your iPod.

What were you trying to accomplish at the beginning of this?

hey

my ipod is fine now.

the iTunes bug a common bug in the version 7 (later ones) of iTunes that launches the program but doesn't display any GUI. So i installed the first version 7 and restored my ipod.
