Help a brother bassist out? 2.0!

Hey guys,

I hate to ask another favor from you all, but this one is kind of important to us as fellow musicians. Two of the best music venues in Knoxville are in threat of shutting down due to new laws and regulations that (from what I understand) now force venues to make up a certain percentage of their income in food sales. In other words, if they don't make X number of food sales at their establishments then they'll be forced to close, regardless of whether or not they make enough money off of ticket sales and booze sales.

If you could take a moment to sign this petition in order to help local, live music it would be huge. My band was actually set to open for a really big regional band in December (Moon Taxi) and now won't be able to because of this closing. You may or may not end up helping my band by doing this, but you'll definitely be at least helping the music scene in Knoxville! Thank you!

Best,
James

Any links where I can find out more about this? I'll sign your petition, but I would like to know all the details first.

I'll look around. The best I can give you off hand is straight from the Valarium's web page:

http://www.thevalarium.com/saturday-dance-night/

I'll see if I can dig up some more real news sources.

Almost 100% sure it's Knox county. Why you ask?

It's a straight music venue, as in people just go there to see bands, dance, socialize, and catch a buzz. It's also in a very inopportune part of town. You won't be going there to pick up a burger if you don't have to.

Thanks for the help, guys! I'd really hate to see these venues go out of business because of this legislation. They truly are two of the biggest and best places for live music in Knoxville.

Drunks need food too. Don't make them go to Taco Bell.

A Hi-C Punch milkshake? Interesting. What in the world is a Cheerwine Float? What do you usually order when you go?

Cheerwine is a kind of cherry soda. It's actually pretty good! Whenever I go I usually get the tray, which gives you your choice of an entree, two sides, and a drink for $5.01. I typically get quesadillas, a bacon ranch wrap, a chicken ranch wrap, and a huge unsweet tea. It's awesome!
