Sign in to disble this ad
So I put my P Bass that hadn't sold here in the TB Classifieds on ebay. Starting bid was $500. Yesterday, I got some bids and it went up to $560 between 2 bidders. Today at lunch, a few more bids from the same 2 and it was up to $700. I just checked and it shows $500 again?????? It still shows 6 bids, but they are all $500, which makes no sense. The auction ends in less than a day, so I'm a little worried to say the least. Anyone know what could have happened or how to rectify??

Did they cancel him for some reason? You think they'd at least notify the seller. This sucks as some people may have stopped watching my item b/c the price got too high. I hate ebay!!!!

best of luck |

best of luck | Oh crap, I hope that is not the case. If so, I'm done with evilbay. I'm going to try and call/email them now. I am starting to feel screwed already.

I can't explain why, but it's true. So I'm betting the ones who disappeared were busted by Ebay. OTOH I seem to recall Ebay has recently made it easier for buyers to retract bids. They are spending a lot of effort trying to make it easy for bidders, while giving sellers the shaft. |

Bids can be retracted... it's not a process that eBay makes easy to do, but I've done it recently after the seller informed me that he would not be able to ship in a reasonable amount of time. Needless to say, I yanked my bid quicker than ... well, something that's really quick.

My only two negs were from sellers who never shipped, got negatives, and left me retaliatory ones. Real mature.
Anyway, under the new method, sellers cant leave negs, only positives, and the feedback percentage is only from the last year.
It's "nicer" but it also doesn't help sellers avoid sellers that jerk you around.

However, there are a few things I've had a heck of a time finding other places.

Pretty much no way for me to know if the bidder opened a fake account to bid up then cancelled his account. Once his account went dead, ebay cancelled those bids dropping it to the original listing price. At this point, I can cancel in the next hour before it gets to 12 hours or less, or just leave it up and hope someone else bids. Not sure what to do at this point.

| | Believe in absurdities and you commit atrocities | | Join Date: May 2005 Location: Cleveland, OH | | | I'm just starting to hate Ebay altogether because it isn't an online auction anymore. It started out as a "garage sale" of used stuff. People just trying to sell used items. Now, it's just a bunch of stores selling the same stuff from their websites at retail prices. Isn't that what internet stores are for in the first place? There should be no "buy it now" option and no "reserve price" option. Just put up an item for what you want to get for it on the low end...and if people bid higher than that...great...you win! If no one bids on it, then you have seriously over valued your item or no one wants your garbage to begin with!!!
Just my opinion.
