My boss asked me to research hoaxes (in the widest sense of the word) that center around fictional characters. For example like this commercial for a german hardware store: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE1NwfwdJ-s
It centers around the fictional character of stunt driver Ron Hammer (portrait by an actor) who also had a Wikipedia entry, website, TV segments about him, etc. All to fool people into thinking he was a real person.
I am not just looking for ads but pretty much all kinds of recent hoax-characters (from all over the world). For example, comedians who created fictional characters, etc. Thanks! |

You could probably write a thesis on this one alone. |

Thanks for all the input so far! |
