Help planning vacation in colorado. [SKI?]

Sign in to disble this ad
Upfront I know 0 about skiing [not even sure if I spelled it right] I have only seen snow once in my life and it was a few inches.
You might call me a ******... But... There IS snow in november. Right? I mean how does this whole SNOW thing work? Is it constantly snowy because its winter and high elevation? Are there snow machines [possible?] Im sorry I didn't pay attention in school.

Alrighty...

Im planning a vacation around the 12-14th of november. Im going up there with my soon to be fiance "wink wink"

Im looking for a... ski resort? [What exactly is this?] Basicly I want a place that beginners can rent [I guess thats what you do?] equipment and no trails [runs?] that will get us hurt. But Id also like it to have very pretty scenery. Though the sight of snow will probably amaze us for the first 2 days.

Price isn't too important. But then again I dont know what expensive is up there as a ski "resort"

Is there anything that is Beautiful, Semi Close to Denver, Not TOO populated and set up somewhat for begginers?

That's early for enough snow to ski on. But hey, things may turn your way. I think Arapahoe Basin usually opens first.

I don't know about the US, but over here (the ski capital of the World) going rates on a day pass (as in, the whole mountain) are about $70 for some of the nicer, more touristy, places. Almost all resorts will cater for beginners, that shouldn't be an issue. That said, though, I don't know what it's like Stateside. If you have any doubts/questions, then just call ahead to the local tourist agency and they should help.

But once you get skiing, you won't want to stop. There is no better feeling I know of (apart from flying) than stringing together a series of sweeping turns at speed, while going through a fairy-tale forest and looking out over an alpine valley...
