Help a TBer gain 10 pounds

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, folks, we had ourselves a weigh and tape here today and thanks to my newly acquired inch of height, I am now considered 8 pounds underweight by the Army standard.

So I am on a mission that, while on my much-deserved leave period, to gain ten pounds and keep it. I will be allowed to drink alcohol, so any of those with experience can make recommendations.

Really want some ideas, don't want these guys to have any more reasons to hound me. I get enough crap for being a little guy as is.

Peace,
Greg

I have been trying to gain weight for 4 years with no luck. Eating 5 meals a day and all.

I probably need to take protein shakes and work out a lot or something to have any chance, but my schedule precludes me from doing that.

Lucky bastard...
I cut pizza, soda, bread, pasta, sugar and the 265 in my scale hasn't changed a bit.

Carbohydrates, dude... Up your carbs and you'll blow up like a balloon. Also, if you can NOT do something, DON'T do it. Watch TV instead of cutting the grass or sweeping the driveway. And sleep more hours...

Beer. A few imperial stouts a night and you'll be blossoming (and sleeping like a baby).

You may be the luckiest man alive.

Dark beer, meat, carbs, dairy, and lots of naps.

"Manmix"

In addition to your balanced meals and PT, blend up a mixture of:

Carbs, one of more of listed:

Old school banana

Sweet potato [canned or baked].

Pumpkin [canned, for more calories, use the sweetened version for pies].

For more nutrition, but not necessary for weight gain:

Frozen/fresh spinach, kale, collard greens.

Frozen berries [strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries].

A green powder [every heath food store has several].

Protein:

Old school raw eggs [if you want to risk orifice eruptions].

A good protein powder [whey].

Lipids:

Olive oil works [I use extra virgin].

If you are brave, fish oil.

You can wake up in the middle of the night to have one of these if you really want to go all-out. You will gain weight, and you will be eating some nutrient dense foods as a bonus. Those all-in-one weight gain powders stink. Eat real food.

Yeah man, just eat like crazy. Try to keep it fairly nutritious, but I think if you're having trouble gaining weight, you probably have a quick enough metabolism to counteract anything unhealthy. Just up your calories. 5-7 meals a day, lots of carbs. You should be able to gain that way.
