I was going through an issue with a Lynksis wireless router, and TrooperFarva was helping me out big time. But I was never able to get the wireless going so I ditched the router.

I decided to buy a Netgear WNR 1000 wireless N-router. I installed it just now, using the CD it came with and it went through the setup painlessly.

Now, it's supposed to be up an running, but I don't have and cen't get an internet connection at all.

I'm using my job-supplied laptop with broadband card to access this right now.

I called the netgear 24/7 tech support line, and when they go to transfer you to a tech...they hang up the line.
So if anyone (trooper?) feels like trying to help me out again...come on in!

Wait....I just got through and I'm on hold.....we'll see if they can figure it out.

Ok, I remember helping you before, but I'm a little fuzzy on the details, so let's start off with some basic questions.

What kind of internet connection do you have?
If you go straight from your internet connection to one of your computers, does that work?
Are you connecting your internet connection to the yellow jack on the Netgear?
When you connect the router to a computer, does your computer see the router?

After about 2 hours (total) of tech support with BOTH Netgear and Verizon, we finally got it to work.

The Netgear router couldn't get an IP off the Verizon modem. Netgear had me change a bunch of settings which didn't work. He told me to call Verizon and do a conference call. THe Verizon tech had me change a couple other things and enable my password log in and it finally connected. I'm on hold once more with Netgear to resolve my case file.

If anything changes I'll keep you posted...Thanks Trooper!
At least with the Netgear, I can actually access the router through the address bar, not like the Linksys, where it didn't even connect.

Seems that the Linksys was toast, which is why it didn't connect. It did, however work as a 4-port HUB, but that's all.

I'm actually posting this wirelessly!!!!!

I'm guessing it was mainly a problem with PPPoE? Verizon, as far as I'm aware, is the only broadband supplier to actually use it.
