if you've seen it yet, they have made a "throwback" DP. real sugar.. old recipe, whatever they did. looks kinda crazy. visual marketing surely wasnt as keen as it is these days.

i had extremely high expectations, despite not being wowwed by the MD or Pepsi throwbacks (to be honest, i dont care for the regular version of either one anyway).

i remember DP burning on the way down. being crisp and kind of intense. seemed like when they started the 23 flavors campaign, it lost its edge. i think they changed it, but no one else seemed to notice. i switched to mr pibb immediately.

so upon opening, i expect it to be as i remember it.

not exactly.

it wasnt bad. it wasnt great. no kick, no burn, but the flavor was a little more reminiscent of 90's DP. tasted kinda flat overall. maybe i just prefer the corn syrup. it was sort of a "store brand" version of DP to me.

YMMV, but i for one built it up in my head a bit, and was a tiny bit let down. i prefer it to 23 flavors era DP, but pibb is still reigning champ for me.

anyone else tried it?

and the first one to crack a joke about the colloquial meaning of the abbreviation DP hates america

Hey, if DP burns your throat, you're on the wrong end

Now that that's out of the way....

Dr Pepper used to be my favorite drink, but lately it's started to taste watered down no matter where you go, so I've been making the switch to coke.

yea. i thoroughly enjoyed having to make whiskey face. if i want smooth, ill drink chocolate milk. sprite is light soda, DP is a heavy soda. its like red and white wine.

id rather be in a dairy cooler all day. no stupid questions when people call.

"do you have milk?"
"yes."
"what kind?"
"all kinds."
"what brand?"
"kroger brand. hang up now."

beats the hell out of people calling me to ask if we carried paris hilton perfume

If you want to try the original recipe Dr.Pepper that's actually made with cane sugar, get some Dublin Dr.Pepper. That stuff is great.

I've done some hunting over by the original factory in Dublin. You can only buy it a 6-pack at a time there. People try to buy large amounts of it to market so they made it a local law. Yup, if you're old enough, that's the real stuff. Hard to handle that much sugar any more. It's showing up in stores in DFW now.

I don't like DP and I never have but around here a bunch of people like the Dublin DP and you can buy it in various stores. Waco is the birthplace of DP and home of the DP Museum. It's also where Big Red started. Ironically I can't stand either of those. I'll drink any kind of standard Coke, Pepsi, RC, etc...

Never cared for DP but I love Mt.Dew.

The "throwback" Dew is what I remember drinking as a kid. I went out and bought ten 12-packs just in case it disappears tomorrow! This is the good stuff.

BTW, I'm drinking one right now!
