Hernia!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Bucking the usual Talkbass tradition of getting medical advice from the collective genius that is OT, I went to an actual doctor and had him feel me up to see if we could narrow down possibilities. Looks like a possible sports hernia as I have neither the bulge nor the associated pain in the pressure points he prodded.

This is in stark contrast to my diagnosis of tearing up my insides by hauling around my massive ego. Go figure. Anyway, since he's not positive, I get to "take it easy" for another month, try working out again and see if the pain returns. Simply awesome.

I don't have a question, I just thought I'd feed OT by proving another uncomfortable personal situation for it to consume.

I wasn't, further confounding my GP, but the symptoms are consistent. We'll see in 4 weeks after what I'm sure will be one or two workout sessions before the pain returns.

Pretty much. The copay was an absolute ripoff. I reminded him what I could get for the same $20 on the other side of town.

Haha.

But damn, 20 bucks for co pay? Every time you go to the doc? Ours is like 12.

We're only talking an $8 difference here. Granted, that's a decent six pack of beer, but it's not breaking the bank.

You're kidding, right? Why would I herniate myself when I can get my doctor to touch me for $20 ($12 if Gress can get my resume to his employer)? I prefer to leave that kind of abuse to the professionals.

True. But a sixer is a sixer. And since twenty bucks is the most I have had in my wallet for the past year or so, I don't plan on going to the doc unless it's an emergency. Then they can just take me out back and shoot me.

Hernia's suck. I get one about once a month from sitting on the pot too long and reading.

For a twenty dollar copay and a complimentary prostate exam, you'd think they'd at least give you a prolapsed hemorrahoid to take home and enjoy.

If I wanted to get out of hauling gear, I could say the doc said I shouldn't and I wouldn't be lying.

That's worth $220 right there. (No copay for me - I get the whole enchilada.)
