My wife have has been watching this program on Netflix intently and I've been looking up from the laptop every now and then.
While I'll admit I'm surely missing some things due to my multitasking and evening commitments; meaning I've missed large portions of the plot. I'm having a hard time enjoying this program. It's not inherently bad or anything, but the story line is so convoluted and complicated.
All the switching of sides,...people dying and coming back to life (or staying dead, or coming back to life as a different person [Nicky, Jessica, Tracy? African Isaac, ***?]),...time travel and location shifting I'm really having a hard time following much less enjoying this program. At this point (somewhere in season 3) I've lost all interest in this show and am just really thinking it's pretty stupid. |

The focus changes several times throughout the show, a lot of characters were added, and other ones became much more emphasized over time.
I liked the show, even to the very end, but I'll be the first to admit that it definitely had several low points.
If you can make it to the last season (season 4), I actually really like Robert Knepper as an actor and thought he did a very good job on the show. |

-Mike | Agree'd. Most TV programs are just dumb. I like Dexter though.
EDIT: Oh and History Channels' Universe.

"How complex and ridiculous can we make this story... Yeeeeaaaaah, that's a good over-thought tv show!" Too many personal story lines to follow, changing temporal perspectives and a general lack of focus from season 2 on just made it unwatchable for me. I wanted it to be awesome and it failed miserably. It's be nice if they redid the series with more focus and a more streamlined story.
I have no problem with shows that make you have to see every episode. You don't skip a chapter in a book an expect to know everything, right? I do however, have a problem when a story, TV or otherwise, becomes so wrapped up in itself that it can't stand up straight.

And miss one episode and you're completely lost. I sometimes suspect that they didn't plan on it's being renewed for a second season and had to scramble to throw it together; the first season was so intently built to reach a climax and END.

Great first season, second was ok, and third was just...bleh. the thing to remember about heroes is that it was originally planned to have no main characters: it was supposed to just follow regular people who find they have amazing abilities. And the first season does that decently well. Then they decided "since everyone loves the first set of people, instead of a new cast like we had planned let's keep them on and make it a super hero show". It then spiraled downwards as they tried to make it more and more super-hero-y.
I do feel that there are very good scenes, in all three seasons, and very good episodes. But I can't finish season 3, I always lose it somewhere and feel like I need to restart a week or so later. My ex had the first 3 seasons on DVD, but we never bought season 4 cause we wanted to finish 3 first.
After we broke up but before she moved out, she either finished 3 on her own or moved on and started watching season 4 on my netflix streaming account. Oh well, she didn't finish before she left. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
