Hey Americans! What is your family ancestry/lineage?

Sign in to disble this ad
My mom's side has been here since the 1700s and they all came from Germany, settling in Pittsburgh. Strangely enough, they all seemed to breed with German Americans as well (not a hard thing to do in PA) up until my mom haha. She married a 1st generation British American, my dad and together they had me. My dad's parents came to the US during the Battle of Britain to escape all the London bombings and settled in the Bronx.

With maybe a few exceptions here and there, Im pretty much 50% German and 50% English.

What about you!?

English, Welsh, Scottish & a touch of German. Sunlight-starved, potato-eating coal miner stock, and I live in sunny California.

Not American, but I think I can post ITT:

Mom's side(straight outta europe): 50% Dutch and 50% Swiss

Dad's side: 50% French Canadain and 50% Ukranian

All I know in terms of histroy is that the French Canadain blood goes, according to my dad: "Back to when being French Canadian meant being a lumberjack in northern Quebec."

Canada is just as much a part of America as the United States is a part of America

LOL okay. I assumed you meant "Citizens of the United States of America". I've never heard the term "American" used to refer to both Canadians and uh... United Statesians?

Father's side: Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English, German, Hungarian, and Dutch.

Mother's side: Scottish, Choctaw, and nobody knows what else because the family records were lost in a fire long ago, and her parents didn't mention much to her about their family history (and they're dead now).

moms side Irish and English
dads side Puerto Rican

because of the Irish was forced to move away from Ireland some time in the 18th century, and the fact that Puerto Rico is an Island in the Caribbean I always claim to be a pirate. even though my parents met in NJ in the 1960's

I don't even know for sure.

Definitely Dutch on my mom's side and German on my Dad's side but beyond that there's British, Portuguese and Italian for sure and probably more.

Both sides - dating back the better part of a Millenium

Mostly due to the fact that I'm only a first-generation American. All of my nieces and nephews are much more typical Americans, with mixed lineage
