Most of us are hard-wired to get a physical rush from acts of generosity, but we have the concept that it's a normal and good thing slowly beaten out of us by the background noise promoting rank selfishness at others' expense.
Good for you Jimmy. |

Munji, the stuff you're doing sounds awesome, and I'd be interested to hear more stories of folks who do good in their community and what they do. We focus too much on the negative in this country, eh? We're a nation that likes negative stuff. I always did. But we just got up to the saturation point finally, and I think the pendulum is going to start swinging the other way more. There's nothing boring about good stuff, you know? I just watched "Too Cute." That's a good show.

Most of the people in the world and the U.S. are fine people, but they don't get much press, do they? I know and work with a lot of people whose primary motivation is to make the world a better place for everyone. I have to tell you that many of these people are rich business people. They are using their resources to improve the lot of others without being forced to by the government. One thing that many people don't realize is that, sure, there are rich people who don't seem to carry their share of the tax burden, but how many of us give millions or billions of dollars to people and causes that need it? And no, I'm not one of those rich people. I am a thousandaire, though.

It's great that these people are passionate about a cause, but they rarely do anything to alienate friends and annoy everyone else. Then, when it's all over, they criticize others for obsessively posting on FB about politics, and threaten them with "unfriending" if they don't stop talking about it. It's pitiful, really.
I'm gonna start doing some charity: I'm gonna save the nation from the extremists.

I'm gonna start doing some charity: I'm gonna save the nation from the extremists. | Example: Victoria Jackson.

We go in and do pet therapy for people ( Would you like to pet my dog? It will make you feel better.). Its a toss up between the staff and the kids as to who likes it the most... Now that i think about it....its the dog that loves it the most. Anyway...
That is how I give back to my community.

Here in Detroit, things are rough. There's an organization that is trying to run after-school programs for kids, focused on art, dance, and music. As I get older, I realize how lucky I am to have found music and to get to play every day; now I'd like to volunteer for the program teaching bass. Beyond that, I'd like to fix up an inexpensive bass (that's all I can afford) to teach on, and at the end of the program, gift it to a promising student.
Thanks for the motivation, and keep up the good fight for those of you who are out in your communities making a difference.

Very uplifting. And if you want to post a pic of your dog, that'd be cool. I love dogs, except mine. I have an angry little yorkie that hates kids and other animals
Thanks for sharing your stories.
