Hey Mayor Bloomberg, more First Responders died on 9/11 than did rich politicians.

You should have included them in the memorial.

Yep, he claims there "wasn't enough room". It seems to me there was "room" for 343 firefighters in the same space on 9-11-01.

This is a disgrace. From here in England, my very best wishes to all in the US who were hurt in any way by this event ten years ago, and ignore the people grubbing up the political capital. Just remember and reflect in whatever way suits you best.

If I were on a truck crew (ladder, not engine) I would ride up, raise the stick and soak Bloomberg and all the other politicos there.

But, we must remember it's not just about the 343 firemen, included in the 420 some civil servants, but the other 2500 people that didn't make it out. It's about the hundreds of guys who climb on to their truck every day with a blank expression because they lost guys off their crew. It's about the inrreplaceable people lost from their families, and the grief still felt today. That's 9/11...

Bloomberg wasn't mayor then, I know. While firemen etc, were rushing to the trouble he was probably in a secret bunker somewhere. He should sit the memorial out.

Every year on this date I am sickened by the hollow BS and disingenious platitudes.

Perhaps there wasn't 'enough room' for prime time coverage and this:

From what I've heard, this memorial is for the families of those who were lost, with the Firefighters getting their own ceremony. I just see this as people taking something and blowing it totally out of proportion, but hey, thats just imo.

I haven't seen that one, but CNN had this one on last night:

Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports on effects of toxic dust exposure from NYC's 9/11 Ground Zero during memorial coverage – CNN Press Room - CNN.com Blogs

edit: That link was just a promo, apparently. The program I was referring to was an hour long. I'll see if I can find it.

Honoring the first responders who died on 9-11 on a date that isn't 9-11 is at best disgraceful.

Keep in mind that this is a CONSTRUCTION SITE too, and it would be the cities a$$ on the line if anyone was to get hurt in an accident or anything.

The firefighters are getting there own ceremony on a different day. Which sorta defeats the purpose of a 10th anniversary memorial.

Its like telling sailors that their Pearl Harbor Anniversary memorial will be moved to 3 days before Christmas. It just doesn't have the same effect.

They said they didn't want to spend more money on security and that if they let the NYPD and FDNY come it'd be a logistical nightmare.

I honestly haven't looked that far into the matter, but from what I've read I haven't seen any mention of the cost of security coming into it, and frankly I'd imagine that setting up more security would be more cost effective than throwing another ceremony.

Whatever the reason that first responders, clergy, etc were not ALLOWED, you can bet it was purely political which is purely disgusting. I think those involved in the decision need to visit Alice in Wonderland and be placed before the Queen of Hearts.
Just sayin'....

Uhhh...If the NYPD is there, why do you need security?
