The Higgins Armory Museum

Last Saturday afternoon my wife, daughter, and myself went to the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, MA. They have the largest collection of medieval armor in the Western Hemispheres, and they weren't kidding! Armor and various weapons from all over the world from many different time periods as well. There are even helmets and pieces of armor you can try on. There are also multimedia exhibits about tournaments and jousts and life for a knight during the Middle Ages. One thing I thought about is how incredibly hot and heavy those full suits of armor must have been during those hot summer days. They couldn't have fought for very long before collapsing from sheer exhaustion! So all in all it was a fun and educational time we had, and if anyone happens to be in the Worcester area they should check it out.

Love that place, and go often. Played shows there many a time too. They have a Star Wars exhibit heading there soon too, iirc.

AWESOME place. Truly wonderful.

Several years ago we went to the MET in NYC. They had a special exhibit of armor, and it was really intersting. They had a suit of armor worn by Henry VIII, it being the only one with a distinct bulge in the mid section. They were all pretty short back then, too.

I totally forgot about that place.
When I was a kid my mom used to visit her friend once every couple of months and as it so happened she lived very near to the Armory. My mom's friend had a son my age and he, my brother, and I would be allowed to spend the afternoon hanging out in that place, a lot of very old memories I had forgotten about till this moment.
Cool.
