High School Teacher Uses Assasination to Teach Geometry

This is pretty sick, IMO. I honestly do not want to start a debate about politics!!!! I am a teacher, and I think this is a shameful misuse of the classroom.

I wonder what the teacher or administration would say if a student had diagrammed an assasination attempt on the teacher himself or the school's prinicipal?

I do not care for President Obama's politics but regardless if you like the man's political views or not, I do not agree with what that teacher did. I hope the teachers supervisors reprimanded him in some way for that.

Yeah, in this day and age that's not something you should joke about. Especially in a public school. Especially in front of a class of impressionable students.

I dont see the big deal.
I mean using it in a class is a little unnecessary. Especially since were a country split politically.

But its not like its going to inspire to kid to try to kill obama or use what he learned in school to assassinate the president.

I dont think its a big deal though, just not the best example to use. The teacher should be let known he is a dumb###. Though not arrested, it is not treason, nor do I believe killing the president is something that should be spoken about by a teacher to students.

Being split politically is a pretty normal situation for a democracy, after all, an election pretty much guarantees that someone will be unhappy with the outcome.

I believe also that a teacher talking about killing the president as an illustration of a principle is a pretty clear signal from a person in a position of authority that considering such an act of political violence is OK.

As I said before, if a student drew up a schematic on how to kill the teacher, a principal, the security guard, etc. It would be an expellable offense. To do so talking about the president is reckless and grounds for dismissal, IMO.

In my high school that wouldn't have been a big deal, people would have chuckled about it and there would have been that one person who asked "who's obama?" and the rest of us would have muttered ".....******* idiot".
