About a mile away, maybe mile and a half, I can see the fire brigades flashing lights, and the sky is lit up orange, flames visible at this distance.
Some dumbass trying to burn up dry scrub on boglands to get at turf and peat, its illegal here, these days too, because they always get out of control, heh, just like now.
Last time this happened two whole hills lit up, houses were burned down and people died. I hope it dosen't spread far, and no one gets hurt this time.

I hope the one near you is contained quickly and that no major damage is done.

I hope the one near you is contained quickly and that no major damage is done. | They happen here about every four years or so, and yeah they do suck.
Its not growing any bigger, far as I can tell, so it seems they're starting to contain it now, here's hoping for the best.

When they put a dot on the map for most lighning strikes, it's right here in my town My property has been hit 3 times in the past 15 years, all 3 times doing a lot of damage but luckily no fire damage. |

I used to live in Wyoming and South Dakota here in the US, lots of flat prairies with scrub, sage, tumbleweeds, etc. Bad areas for wildfires - lots of winds driving flames over dry scrub. While a lot of the wildfires there are from lightning, there are also far too many caused by ijits flicking their cigarette butts out their windows as they drive along... and then there are the off-roaders who don't realize how hot the exhaust pipes on their ATVs, motorcycles and what not can get, and start fires when they park in brush...
