Hiring illegal aliens?

Sign in to disble this ad
Happens all over the US all the time, people hiring illegals for cash. These folks (aliens) are not paying any taxes, which is kinda irking me.

Can a common citizen 'report' such an incident to the authorities?

I would assume since it is illegal, you can report it.

I'll be preemptive and post it before things get interesting:

I reported one once, and it was the biggest mistake I ever made.

I'm caught between two viewpoints. On the one hand, I feel that I'd be paying less if more people paid in and it's a civic duty, after all, so call the lawdogs on them. On the other, I sure wish I could undocument myself.....

Out here in California it's a gigantic problem. Call ICE. Chances are they won't do anything. It's so frustrating. This is one issue that pisses me off.

I can promise you texas is worse. Me and my dad were driving in a home depot parking lot and we stopped to get back on the feeder road and these (obviously illegal) mexicans were literally trying to get in the car. Just cause we had a Tahoe.

The law seems pretty black and white. Either they are legal and have appropriate papers or are illegal and don't. I really don't see the argument in this long drawn out debate. Like running a red light or stopping, one is legal the other is illegal and comes with a hefty fine.

How about the people doing the hiring? They aren't paying SS, worker's comp, etc for the employees. The cash is probably not reported income by the employer, so there's no tax paid on it. If there was no hiring, they wouldn't be here.

Exactly. If we focused on the companies hiring illegals, their job market would dry up and they would start to return back to their native countries. If they want to immigrate to this country, do it legally.

I would say it's more likely that they have fake papers and pay fake taxes than the thought that they're all paid under the table in cash.
