giving people money or things rarely solves their financial problems long term. Most people who win the big lottery prizes end up bankrupt. Also many professional athletes and entertainers end up bankrupt. If you can't manage money, having more doesn't really help all that much. You'll still figure out a way to blow it all and then some.

The idiots took out a 450,000 dollar loan on a paid off house that was completely rebuilt for them.

No compassion here.

I know. Ridiculous isn't it. I wonder how many HUD and Habitat Homes end up meeting the same fate. Obviously with less money involved.

I'm not terribly surprised to see this happen.

I've always found that show a bit suspect. How can you build a house in a week? You just can't put framing on top of a concrete foundation that you poured the day (or night) before.

Sure you can. There's all kinds of types of concrete that you can use - some cure very quickly.
