Anybody else here a fan of the cartoon series, Home Movies?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Movies_(TV_series)

Probably not for everyone, but something about it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Great characters and animation style. It's a really funny show that it seems like noone even knows about. It ran for 4 seasons and I just finished going through season 1. Written by the same guy who does Metalocalypse, Brendon Small.

I used to watch it a lot when I was younger. Mostly out of morbid curiosity, I think. I don't particularly find it funny, but I can't stop watching it when it's on.

I find that show quite clever.

Yes. Amazing.

I like the ones where Mitch Hedberg has cameos.

That show is one of the few I miss about having T.V.

I love the dynamic of the dialogue between the characters. It's a really unique style. I wouldn't be surprised if its semi improvised

It is! They talk about it on the wiki page:

"its initial use of “retroscripting”, a process in which an episode’s scripts are purposely left vague, and instead of exact dialogue, the plot of a particular scene is merely outlined—the rest of the dialogue is then created through improv by the actors. The use of retroscripting in Home Movies gives the show very casual, realistic dialogue with an often dry, sarcastic wit. Although retroscripting was only used officially in the first season (the entire first episode was improvised from start to finish), the dialogue in the following three seasons remained heavily improvised, with the written script serving mainly as a guide or something to fall back on for jokes if needed."

Very cool!

DVDs my friend

I love that show. The creator of Home Movies also created Metalocalypse. Both hilarious shows IMO

I also just finished season 1 and have moved onto season 2.
Downloaded all 4 seasons a few months ago. I'm going through them pretty slowly.

Not everyones cup of tea, but if you like dry humour, it might be your thing.

Great stuff, even the original Squigglevision episodes. Is it just me or is there a Coach McGurk in everyone's life? BTW, I'm sure you know that Brendon Small not only wrote and animated that show And Metalocalypse?, but he also did all the music, writing and playing on both shows and has a tutorial on guitar shredding on his website

McGurk is one of the greatest cartoon characters ever. He has the best advice...

"Life sucks, Brendon. That's your lesson. Go enjoy it."
"Brendon there's nothing wrong with lying to women. Or the government. Or parents. Or God."
"Liquor before beer, never fear. Beer before liquor, throw up quicker."

Done with seasons 1-3 now. Starting on 4 tonight

I love the dialogue between Brendan and his mother the best :

Paula: What were you saying?
Brendon: Can we move the flowers?
Paula: Before that.
Brendon: This meatloaf is dry.
Paula: Before that.
Brendon: This is *meatloaf*?
Paula: Before that.
Brendon: This fish is dry.

Paulal: Would you mind setting the table? Dinner's going to be ready soon.
Brendon: Can I do it after dinner?
Paula: Sure.

Paula: I'm getting a raise!
Brendon: That's great!
Paula: Well, I'm going to ask for a raise.
Brendon: Well, that's, um... practically great!

It's a good show, I watched it back when there was Space Ghost on (hated that show)

I remember they did the announcement: "Adult Swim: All children out of the pool, adult swim"

before the black screen with white text, and the [adult swim] logo (Small change)

Space Ghost had its moments, but it was really annoying at times too. Definitely not on my list of shows to go back and watch again.

But now that I'm done with Home Movies, I'm on to Garfield and Friends! Garfield was my absolute favorite when I was a kid. And that show ran for 7 seasons, yikes! This could take a while

Yes, I love this show. Especially the last couple seasons when they really had a groove going.

One of my favorite shows. Like a lot of its fans, I used to hate it at first, and over time I found it better than almost anything on TV. I own all four seasons. The closest thing I've found to it on TV since is Lucy: Daughter Of The Devil. Same sort of conversational hilarity. Which makes sense, as it's basically the same producers and cast of Home Movies minus Brendan Small, who was off doing Metalocalypse.
