We're getting ready to put our home on the market and did a home inspection of our own so we can take care of things ahead of time. The only real issue found is that the radon level in our house is apparently HIGH. The threashold for taking action is apparently 4 pCi/L and our level is 32. I'm still waiting to get complete lab results back from the inspector's lab to confirm the findings, but that level blows me away.
So I'm wondering about all kinds of things now. Has anyone had to deal with remediating a radon problem when buying or selling a home? If so...
- What kind of levels were they and what level did they come down to after remediation?
- What did the work cost?
- How effective was the fix?
- Do you need to do regular testing after this? At what intgervals?
- Has anyone or anyone in your family been physically affected by elevated levels?
- Is the whole radon thing just getting blown out or proportion?
- Etc.
Thanks!
