Hooking up a computer with a tv

I have a laptop and a tv, but no dvd player, and I'd like to watch dvds on my tv instead of on a 15" computer screen.

Is there a way run the dvd on your laptopto connect it with your tv and watch the dvd on your tv?

If your video card will support it, you can buy a simple cable that plugs into your normal monitor jack, and connects to your TV via HDMI plug in. I'm not sure if you can get the standard red, white, and yellow, but ask around circuit city, best buy, and radioshack.

As long as you have a video out somewhere. I used to have my SVGA going to my monitor and my Svideo out going to a conversion box that changes it to a standard tv signal, I got it at walmart for like 15$. Then just run an audio out to the TV.

How do I know if my video card will support it? And does a laptop have a monitor jack?
