Hotmail problem.

Sign in to disble this ad
I accidentally opened a WOW phising email, I knew it was a phising mail but still wanted to see how well made the bait URL was made, the problem is that my hotmail account now sends like 100 emails every day and i get the delivery failure notification of each and everyone of those mails, does anyone know how to stop my account from sending those mails?

I find, in this case, the most radical action is most likely the easiest one.

Did changing your password fix the problem.

BTW. Asking for your OS and browser version was a means of getting background info which may have a bearing on finding a solution to the problem.

I'd expect that an up-to-date combo of Windows 7 Ultimate and Firefox would be quite secure.

Are you using these Firefox security-enhancing and/or page junk-reducing addons?:

WOT, FlagFox, NoScript, and Adblock Plus.

could be a vacation response, auto send feature, link is probably pasted in your signature also...friend had that happen recently in his hotmail, they stuck their advertisement in his signature so every time he sent an email it was in there...

I dont know if the password change has solved anything yet as it happens only at certain hours, so if by tomorrow there is no delivery status mail, its solved.

I dont think i have installed none of those apps, i have a popup blocker and thats it.

It sounds like your computer has been taken over and is being used by fraudsters/hackers - I would be very worried that any illegal activity they undertake, could be tracked back to your PC!!

Go here :

http://www.scambusters.org/upsscam.html

...an alert about a UPS scam that delivers a deadly Trojan program onto your PC via email that, in turn, can lead to both identity theft and hacker control of your computer.

I am worried that it's not your Hotmail account, but your Passport account that has been taken over. If it is so, the malignant software is on your computer.

Ideally, have a geek friend running Linux connect to your computer and do a thorough virus/trojan clean up of the hard drive.

Those Firefox Add-ons I mentioned won't solve your current e-mail infection but they are useful in further enhancing one's web surfing security.

Please Google their names and decide for yourself re their usefulness.

I've had WOT, Web Of Trust (warns of web sites which are know to be dangerous), NoScript (blocks web sites from running unauthorized scripts), and Adblock Plus (blocks performance diminishing animated GIF-based advertising) installed on an up-to-date Ubuntu & Firefox rig for several months with no issues.

I installed FlagFox (which helps to expose phony servers by providing their actual location on a map augmented with technical details) two days ago. So far, so good.

Open your Hotmail

Then click in the address bar in your browser and type http://www.gmail.com
Then make a Gmail account.
Then burn your Hotmail account.
Problem solved

In all seriousness, I was going to add something helpful, but the others have already done what I would do.
