lowsound | +1
prince brought the hits, but also i really dig that he did a modern cover (foo fighters song) to "connect" to the younger crowd |

Tom brought a band. I think it's the best American band going for the last buncha years. He's the real deal for R&R
Did anyone else notice that 3 out of the 4 toons were from his solo album - the one without the HeartBreakers?
ps> the bass player is Ron Blair. If I had been offered a buncha SVTs I woulda left 'em on standby too

While not one of my favorites, I've always liked Tom Petty (especially the Wildflowers album) but I gained a whole new respect after seeing him live. A number of years ago I saw him at the Fillmore and it was just an incredible show. The perfect venue for him and it was an almost perfect concert. The rest of that night (with my friends and my girlfriend at the time) just made the whole thing that much better. |

I came away with the impression that, in footbal terms, he had lost a step. They did sound great though, then again, it's not like they're trying to play YYZ or anything. Did you hear the bass player bite it on the 1st time through the opening bass riff in American Girl ?
