I don't know how many people here have read the British news but this is terrible to read.
A few weeks ago a mother, her boyfriend and a lodger were questioned, charged and now convicted of killing a baby, known now as 'Baby P'.
The child was on the child protection register, and was being watched by social services. Yet over the space of 6 months, the baby was tortured and beaten by the boyfriend whilst the mother lied to doctors and police.
How could anyone do this to a child, or at least allow it to happen?
It makes me despair at the human race....

I was just saying to someone a few days ago that though the Baby P case is shocking and well publicised, child abuse is much more common than some people would like to admit. |

+1 to the Relics post.
It's only the "tabloid society" that brings these horrible news to the public. They simply sell a lot of copies/advertizing time.
The fact that we are now more aware about some isolated cases, doesn't mean that this is something new or small scale, unfortunately.

Never thought I'd say "Yay!!" for the inmates..... but, YAY!!

I hope it's just some sort of crazy illusion and not real.

However, stories of people doing horrible things to children will do it every time. I simply don't have the mental capacity to understand how anyone could do such a thing.
God rest that baby's soul.

The boyfriend in question turned himself into police after they showed his face on TV. He was afraid what someone in the community might do to him. In an interview, the sheriff said the guy is safer in custody.
But yeah, these kind of people are sicko's. I honestly do not think there is any way to "fix" this kind of behavior.

I remember back when I was a teenager, working in a nearby amusement park, one day there was this big, fit bodybuilder doing air-acrobatics with his son. We were all quite certain that something bad would happen, but obviously they had done it many times before. The guy held the boy from his ankles only and everything seemed to be totally in control. Every time the dad stopped the boy was begging for more, he was enjoying it more than the rides. They did the "number" several times. The boy was older though, 3 or 4 IIRC.
