How can anyone do this to their own child? (graphic content)

I don't know how many people here have read the British news but this is terrible to read.

A few weeks ago a mother, her boyfriend and a lodger were questioned, charged and now convicted of killing a baby, known now as 'Baby P'.

The child was on the child protection register, and was being watched by social services. Yet over the space of 6 months, the baby was tortured and beaten by the boyfriend whilst the mother lied to doctors and police.

How could anyone do this to a child, or at least allow it to happen?

It makes me despair at the human race....

I don't understand it myself, I really don't, but the alarming thing is that this isn't all that uncommon.

I was just saying to someone a few days ago that though the Baby P case is shocking and well publicised, child abuse is much more common than some people would like to admit.

My daughter is 5 months old, and can't bear the thought of her in pain. I flinch when she gets a shot at the Dr. office. Someone that can do that to a child is inhuman and should be treated like garbage and thrown out.

Hi.

+1 to the Relics post.

It's only the "tabloid society" that brings these horrible news to the public. They simply sell a lot of copies/advertizing time.

The fact that we are now more aware about some isolated cases, doesn't mean that this is something new or small scale, unfortunately.

Sam

Hell can wait for their turn. I have several friends that have bee in the big house... they have a special welcoming committee for people that do harm to children.

Never thought I'd say "Yay!!" for the inmates..... but, YAY!!

I know this isn't near as bad as killing a child, but when I saw this video I wanted to punch the guy for being so reckless with his kid.

Wow. That is horrible. I wouldn't even care if my kid seemed to enjoy that, the risk is way too high.

And it gets worse and worse as the video goes on.

I hope it's just some sort of crazy illusion and not real.

Yup. It definitely borders on child abuse in my opinion.

Ugh!!!!!!!!!

There was another story in the news recently that really really bothered me. I'll post the news story here. Warning though - it's not anything morbid or overly graphic but may be disturbing to some. A dad allows two toddlers to fight and films it. Idiot. the part that really gets to me the most, is that a big brother tries to help and is pulled away.

Maybe I'm just a heartless b*****d but there don't seem to be many things that cause me serious pain, disgust, and pity. However, stories of people doing horrible things to children will do it every time. I simply don't have the mental capacity to understand how anyone could do such a thing.

God rest that baby's soul.

Except for the older boy who was pulled away. Way more sense there than someone who thinks that watching a 2 year old suffer is entertaining.

There was a case of that up here not too long ago. The boyfriend in question turned himself into police after they showed his face on TV. He was afraid what someone in the community might do to him. In an interview, the sheriff said the guy is safer in custody.

But yeah, these kind of people are sicko's. I honestly do not think there is any way to "fix" this kind of behavior.

That looks horrible, couldn't watch beyond the mid-point.

I remember back when I was a teenager, working in a nearby amusement park, one day there was this big, fit bodybuilder doing air-acrobatics with his son. We were all quite certain that something bad would happen, but obviously they had done it many times before. The guy held the boy from his ankles only and everything seemed to be totally in control. Every time the dad stopped the boy was begging for more, he was enjoying it more than the rides. They did the "number" several times. The boy was older though, 3 or 4 IIRC.

Regards
Sam
