Jim Cantori (wearing his swimming goggles) is a little over dramatic while he reports (like an idiot) from ground zero during a hurricane. He's falling down but the camera guy doesn't look like he is affected.

2. reporters just pretending to be blown around (like on the deck of the Star Trek Enterprise..)

Ah - but they are both being subjected to the same forces -so the camera appears steady, because it is moving the same way as it's subject - whereas in fact it's moving, but our brain judges that it is still....

Or maybe it's because the camaraman was sensible enough to stay indoors with a zoom lens, while the reporter has to be outside for 'show'...?

I remember that long ago on one of those Discovery channel Tomorrow Now programs they showed a camera that had some software-hardware thing that automatically cutted the parts of the frame that werent always on the frame.

I doubt they're using a Steadicam for ENG. Perhaps a tripod.

I love when they are waiting for the bad stuff to hit and there is not much going on. They say stuff like " Bill, if I can get you to pan to my right you can see leaves actually being blown across this parking lo--wait!! Oh my, there is a shopping bag that is caught in an updraft!!!"
