I like mine a light shade of brown with the centre still soft.

I can rarely get it to be perfect.
It's kinda like coffee in that way

Burnt. Same with bagels, english muffins, and anything else you can put butter, peanut butter or jam on.

Golden, just enough to be crispy and not too humid (especially true with dense bread).

This. The rest of you freaks should be banned from owning a toaster. Burnt, for crying out loud...

Haha, well not COMPLETELY burnt.

Everything tastes a little better burnt though. Like Burnt ends on bun. MMM

Using this picture as an example, I would say I like about a 4.

Same here. I'll eat a three, but 4 and 5 don't look appetizing at all.

5 is to far for even me. Burnt toast has a completely different flavor then lightly toasted though.

Lightly toasted. Enough to be crusty but not enough to get crumbs everywhere while eating it.

I like mine a good 2 on this chart. It's got to have lots and lots of butter though.

It depends what kind of mood I'm in. Most of the time it will be golden brown, but on occasion I get a craving for burnt toast. Not charred to a cinder - like maybe 60-70% burnt?

And toast should always be consumed with butter and really bitter marmalade.
