I'm troubleshooting a VST and the techs want a screenshot of what's going on. Don't know how to do that. Can anyone tell me?

If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7 I think the snipping tool is a bit faster.

Find it in your start menu or search for snipping

No, save as PNG.

PNG is lossless.

Open Word, if you have that program. The process is similar to the cut/paste feature as follows:
1. New Word file is open;
2. With the item showing in full screen that you want, press Print Screen (Prtsc sysrq) button;
3. Click on blank page in word.
4. Use paste feature of mouse button inside your new word file.
5. If successful, you will see the screenshot Word file.
6. Save the Word file.

(Unfortunately, the screenshot is smaller than the actual screen image copied).

Personally I would save as a targa gif, rather than png. PNG's create huge file sizes, and to the eye generally aren't that much better looking than jpg. TGA does retain more quality than jpeg, however it does have a slightly, and I mean SLIGHTLY smaller filesize than .png format. Honestly though for the issue the op is having, any filetype would work. Have to keep in mind filesize of attachment though if the transmission method is e-mail. They still do apply file limits with some providers.
