How do you keep your fingernails strong?

Well for my slap style (I actually use the popping when not slapping for extra volume) I slap on the fingerboard. Its not something that will ever change. But when I pop, because of my action being low, I can only get my fingernail under there to grab the string. But it seems every time it gets long enough to get it under there really easy, it breaks on one side so I have to peel the long part off. Kinda hard to explain but I'm sure you get the point.

Anyways, how do I keep my nail from peeling or whatever? Thanks guys

If you DID, then what's the problem?

Ok, surefire cure: walk around with a different finger parked in your nose daily. ALL day. Tough as nails.

I don't know. My fingernails are shorter than tips of my fingers by an inch.
