There's this Toronto all-original neo-funk band called KC Roberts & The Live Revolution that blew me away when I saw them live earlier this month.
This is coming from somebody who never attends shows anymore because it's usually too loud, the talent is seriously lacking, and the execution is worse.
This band is a rare welcome surprise!
The guitarist organized this new arrangement for Bryan Adam's Run To You after he learned CBC Canada had created Cover Me Canada, a show about Canadian bands covering Canadian hits.
This is the result. Everybody's a talented musician in this band. I especially enjoyed the funk bridge at 2:05. CBC Cover Me Canada - "Run to You" - KC Roberts and the Live Revolution - YouTube
For the record, they passed on this band's entry.
Here's the website : | KC Roberts

Funky doesn't even begin to describe how low these cats go! The groove is just DEEP. Sounds like early Jamiroquai with more neo-soul influence. Something tells me these guys would be massive in Europe.
I'm seconds away from buying everything they've put out...

I just thinking it didn't flow in that wanky Dave-Mathews sorta way.
Nice playing, nice tone, good tightness, bad idea.

Great band indeed! Tight and they sound really good. The song blows chunks though. |

I have a lot of respect for their playing. |

| | THIS HAND OF MINE GLOWS WITH AN AWESOME POWER! | | Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: USA; Mitchellville, Maryland | | | As far as the band, I wasn't commenting on the song (which is still a million times better than the original), I was talking about their original stuff that I previewed on iTunes. Just in case anyone was wondering where the awesome was.
And I think people keep posting music junk in OT because 1) we're awesome 2) we get a lot of traffic. The Recordings forum doesn't seem to see much action. Usually, it's annoying but with a band this good I can't be mad at Strat.

Also, frankly, I always hate when people take a guitar-driven rock song and jazz (or funk) it up with horns etc. No matter how good they are, it almost always winds up sounding like Muzak to me.
