How do you say no?

How do you say no to others without offending them?

I ask because a chick friend has been coming on to me and its making me uncomfortable. She's hot, but its a no go for me. I'm not homosexual, just involving myself would violate my two rules on life.

I'm pretty promiscuous in real life. God knows how, what with being horribly disfigured and all.

I have two rules in life and they both involve ****.

Don't **** where you eat (meaning don't screw up things or people at your work and school)

and

Do whatever you want so long as you don't **** on other people. Thats my version of Jesus's golden rule.

The "no fatties" rule only applies to people I get jiggy with. Thats right. I said jiggy.

My two rules of life are as follows:

1) The following statement is true.
2) The previous statement was false.

For your #1 rule, it's a bad one, change it. It only gets awkward afterwards if you let it.
For your #2 rule, say "not until you clear it up with ______ (whoever you're talking about), and obviously she will know what you are talking about or else it wouldn't be stepping on any toes.

I think the first rule is a good rule. While it covers many things, I think not sleeping with your classmates and coworkers is a good thing as it leads to drama.

I'm not a drama llama so I'd prefer to lead a drama free life.

It's a good rule if you're planning to mess them around.

It's a bad one if you're actually looking to get seriously involved with someone, precisely BECAUSE of the potential drama. People don't (if they have any sense) mess around with people that they're going to have to deal with afterwards, and as a result only get involved if they have longer term plans. They're then already more invested, and are more likely to consider it as a serious relationship.

I dont believe in beating around the bush and sugar coating things when it comes to matters like this. What I'm saying is, just politely tell her no or that youre not interested and be done with it. I know it sounds anal and all but you cant help the way you feel. Nobody reacts well to getting shot down. So if she has a problem with it then its her problem not yours. Just be upfront and honest with her.

The only problem with rule #1 is that your friends and co-workers are the people you're around most. If you meet someone outside your circle and begin dating them, eventually you bring them into your circle. Do you then have to stop dating them because they are in your circle? It's a vicious cycle......

It's vicious.

And a cycle.

See?
