Any kind of software that will let you work with the audio tracks separately from the video track will work.

Try Windows Movie Maker if it's on your computer - under Accessories.

In Windows Vista click start and type Windows Movie Maker in the search box. Hit enter. It should open. It's part of the OS package, you shouldn't have to download or install it.

Is WMM also part of XP or is it an add on?

What if someone who was using Linux (like me) wanted to do this?

It's part of it IIRC. Or literally an automatic update.

For Linux, I heard Jahshaka is pretty good (but you have to get the hang of it). Otherwise, maybe Open Movie Editor, but I never tried it.

Okay I have another computer question. There is a bunch of stuff missing from TalkBass in my display, such as all members' avatars are missing, lots of the menu options are gone and I can no longer use advanced response features such as edits, auto-quotes or smilies or even PM other members.

I also have no way to start a new thread so I can't ask this question in my own thread but have to hijack this one (sorry!). I can still post replies (obviously) and my account is up to date so I assume that I haven't been denied privileges.

This problem is unique to TalkBass because all other forums I frequent are normal. So is this a problem with the site (ie is anyone else experiencing this) or is this my own computer problem, and if so, what? Have I accidentally changed some display or function settings? I've checked and rechecked my options settings in the control panel and can't find anything amiss.

I'm using Ubuntu Linux and Firefox. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: the questions above - Windows Movie Maker is a free program and should be in XP - if it doesn't appear, it should be a free download from MS.

It's also an amazingly efficient way to convert camcorder .AVI files (big files) into compact WMV files which are much easier to transport. I tried all kind of software to do this with great inconvenience and frustration until I found out it was a matter of a few clicks with WMM.
