Now, if you are already "there" and still at odds with how you are percieved, well, that's a tough one...there's no way to teach you how to be "fun"...depends on your definition. If there's one thing I can't stand is people who try too hard to be "fun" or "funny". It always comes off as forced, like that one ebullient classmate in school who no one could stand because they were so unnervingly "perky".
Being fun is being yourself and surrounding yourself with people who accept you as you are.

We all are. You gotta remain upbeat, positive, proactive in spite of it. You have a roof over your head, food in yer gut, healthy? Look at the bright side, and all those other cliches. I realize I'm not being much help here, but I've been down this road a few times myself, and yeah, it tends to alienate people...never a healthy thing.
Chin up, my man.

edit: i think being fun would mean i dont post this thread | I am going to asume you mean a person that is fun to be around, and likes to do fun things. Broad terms, I know but here goes.
First thing, don't take your self too seriously. If some pokes fun at you or makes you the butt of a joke, laugh with them. Easily said, I know, but its not hard to do if you don't take everything that doesn't stroke your ego, as a personal affront.
Second, be open to doing "fun" things that your friends want to do, even if it wouldn't be your first choice of a "fun" time. And don't mope or pout because you are doing someone elses idea of fun instead of your own. Open yourself up to what other people enjoy, whether it be movies, bars, music, art, doesn't matter. You just might find that you'll enjoy it, but i you don't it can be fun to see other people have fun.
Third, and this goes hand in hand with the last, keep an open mind. Don't discount an "adventure" just because you had never thought of doing that before. In other words, try new things.
Fourth, Be willing to discuss anything with your friends, talk about things you like to do and listen to what they aspire to do. Doesn't matter if its unattainable at the moment. Maybe youu want to play pool on the moon someday, talk about how playing pool on the moon would be fun, how it would make you feel.
In the end, being a fun person means being willing to share experiences, thoughhts and feeling. And a willingness to listen with an open mind to your friends with out being overly critical.

Honestly, if you're asking, there's a problem. Get yourself involved in as many different activities/sports/jam sessions/whatever as your schedule will allow and enjoy yourself. Quote:

exactly! i think thats what the issue is, now i have it pointed it know what was going wrong. my exams started almost a month back and it put an end to my jams, sports, gym, parties everything!
so all i had been doing was staying at home all the time, studying, eating and sleeping. then i'd drag myself to the examination center and same routine on repeat. all along this i am getting so bored and frustrated that i find no life left inside.
woah!
luckily the time has come now exams end in 3 more days and i have beer parties, band jams, recordings and GIGS and probably a tour lined up for the next two months
prolly i should just chill and go out a little in between my study hours. thanks everyone!
yeah and i'd post pics from this tour too once am back
