How Healthy are you?

Sign in to disble this ad
I read a few threads about food and what people eat and drink recently and i must say that i was really surprised to see how many of you guys look extremely unhealthy!

Many of you seem to be firm believers of the beer for breakfast and the living from the many Fast foods you have available in the US!

This got me interested in making a poll, if you feel like giving details go for it, if not just let us know how healthy you think you are!

Just so you get an idea here is what i am like!

Food:

No Fast food whatsoever, (McD, KFC, kebabs, pizza...)
No Sweets (cake, ice cream, chocolate, you name it)
No Soda.
No simple carbs (bread, pasta, white rice, white potatoes)

I eat 4 to 5 meals a day each containing some sort of complex carb (beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, brown rice), some vegetable (broccoli, asparagus, spinach) and a lean protein (chicken breast, fish, lean steak)

I will have one cheat meal every week or two but will still avoid unhealthy things!

Exercise:

I train MMA (mainly BJJ and muay thai) 4 days a week for 2 hours, weight train 3 to 4 time a week, do rowing every other day for at least 20 minutes!

I gig 3 nights a week on average ( Thursday, friday, saturday)

I dont drink on a regular basis but will have the odd pint of guinness here and there!

I quit smoking cigarettes 3 years ago and now have a cigar once or twice a month!

I realize i am a bit of a freak and that most people think im a nutter for living like that, but hey, it works for me!

And yes i know its not that Rock & Roll!

What about you?

I eat a reasonably healthy diet, though I probably have too much red meat. I don't avoid simple carbs, I'm Irish, I need my potatoes, and I'm a sucker for fresh pasta, but I don't eat fast food, fry very little, use olive oil when I do fry, and avoid most processed food, I keep my meat lean and I only eat until I'm full.
I have a very high metabolism, so I tend to snack regularly too, but I keep this mostly to fruit, though I allow myself one bad snack a day.

I drink quite regularly, I'd have 6-7 pints on an average night out, and I'd go out on average once a week, plus I'd get through maybe two bottles of wine a week over dinner.

I'm an ex-smoker, ex drug addict and I don't do any of those any more.

I don't do any "routine" exercise, but I walk somewhere in the region of five miles a day and do quite a bit of heavy lifting when I'm around the house/garden, enough to keep me toned anyway.

I do, however, have a massive caffeine problem. I don't function without my morning coffee and I get through anywhere from 10-20 cups of tea in a day.

I'm not perfect, but I'm happy and I'm not doing anything TOO damaging.

Meh. I'm probably not all that healthy. I eat what I want to. (I do like vegetables, asparagus is in season, and I'm eating a lot of it.) I have a mostly sit down job. I walk my dog about 2 miles a day. And I lift heavy crap in and out of bars twice a week. (Either followed by or prefaced with several beers.)

The good news is, I don't intend to whither away in a nursing home for a decade or so.

I have periods of quite a bit of hiking/mtbing and then may have a lay-off for a while but good food has always been something I like, fruit, fish, meat, veg, spices, garlic, stuff of that nature, not much at all in the way of processed stuff. I try to repair the excesses of my greener day's, which was quite a bit

Like Phalex I love Asparagus, but it makes your pee smell big time

I'm super active about 10 months out of the year and do a lot to stay in shape and be healthy. For about two months out of every year, however, I'll do nothing and eat very poorly. I dunno why it happens, but it does.

I'm going down the path to vegetarianism (though I'll keep seafood for sure), so there's an added plus. I've been eating healthier in the past few months than I ever have, so there's a bonus (more veggies, et cetera), though I don't exercise regularly, though I plan on chaning this.

At home I eat very well, out and about I couldn't care less (a lot of kebabs etc...). I play a fair few sports and walk a lot. I also drink and smoke quite regularly. I'm not exactly the most healthy, but I'm not unhealthy at the moment.

Awful diet here, far too much sugar/carbs and no discipline (lots of snacking)

I do cycle ~100mi a week though, which kinda makes up for it I guess.

Well I just assumed that if someone bothered to exercise a lot they would most likely be watching what they ate!

Maybe im wrong but i cant imagine someone exercising 2 hours a day or more (which is what i call a lot) and live on kebabs and beer!

Maybe they exist!

Hehe...I swear that must be the burden of all Irish men and women across the country...drink, potatoes and tea.

I myself eat reasonably well but I don't exercise as much as I would like to. I used to play sports quite a bit but lately I've been neglecting it. I also drink a huge amount but am considering giving it up, too much money down the drain spent on imported, liquid embarrassment.

No poll option for myself.

I eat like crap but excersise a lot. Weight training & cardio mon/wed/fri (generally ~2 hours), rugby training tues/thurs (~2 hours) with games on saturdays. Terrible for snacking during work and taking the quick/lazy options when it comes to food.

Also adding - No drinking or smoking for me.
