How many famous bassists can you name from memory?

I decided to try and come up with the names of all the bass players from well known bands I could think of in 5 minutes or less. Not cheating by checking the internet or other sources. Some were band leaders and/or song writers. Some do vocals and some play other intruments on their recordings and live shows as well. I came up with a measley 12, quite embarrasing. How many can you name? No cheating now, memory only. Please don't list the names and ruin it for the rest of us. Be honest now

Your OP wasn't exactly clear: you had added neither the poll nor the strongly worded 'instruction' when I posted It looked like one of those 'first bassists that come to mind' kind of posts.

Sorry Champ and Hover, no real harm done on your part. The real issue is mine, I'm working on my fusty old curmudgeon side. How am I doing so far?

I have a pounding headache and got to 25 in a minute or so.
Fewer than five would be considered famous by most civilans, though.

Outside of our community musicians are famous because they belong to a band which achieved fame through popular songs. I can name many names but when the public survey comes up on the Family Feud I don't know if I get a big X or we will win the money.
