I live in Canada, but here's the thing,
As long as I pass all my courses my parents are paying for residence + tuition. Since my mother can't work anymore (health problems) the government is giving me a paycheck of 200$ per month, so that pays groceries. My dad called me lazy the other day cause I quit my job, so he told me he will give me the exact amount of money I make up this summer. I got a job today, and already have 1000$ saved up. I plan on making ~ 2500$ this summer. So (2500 + 1000) x 2 = 7000$. My parents also opened an account when I was young, which there's around 2000$ or a bit more, so total = 9000$.
9000$ for 6 months.........
.... options for a new bass ?

As to your question, compare the salary of college grads versus non college grads. The cost of school now will be paid back many times over.
And you may even avoid snarky posts here.

How long have you been playing?
Are you in a band?
Are you gigging? How often?
Seems you should save a chunk of that change for a rainy day.
Pick a 4 year major the will get you into a field with employment.
Use some of that stash to eventually get some wheels.
It's a great start to a lot of things but if you blow the cash, you'll probably be in your 30's before you have so much free cash again.
Good luck.

$5,200 yearly gas (my total so far)
$1,200 Mac... 100% needed for what I do.
Total: $33,240 a year. /2 = $16,620 every 6 months. (oops, calculated the mac in, heh)
Thats me living at home, and driving 80 miles a day (STILL cheaper then living across the street, my school has no dorms)
It's not cheap man. Budget, budget, budget... Going out to lunch with friends a few times adds up big time... I probably spent like $400 on food in 6 months...

You are going to have some running expenses, spend on food and drink once a while, might need some stuff that you didn't think of, etc. It's much better to have something on the account.

Luckily I have scholarships that cover all the tuition. It'd definitely be worth your time to look into scholarships available to you and how to earn them.
