How much gear do you think I can haul in this?

Just picked myself up a 2011 VW GTI! I had a 2008 Civic Si before, which was (still is) a great car and a lot of fun. I was just racking up miles a little faster than I wanted, and I prefer cars to be under warranty. Plus, I love cars and wanted all the new gadgets and toys you can get!!

-2.0l Turbo 4 with 200hp and 207 lb-ft torque (The Si had a whopping 139lb-ft...or better stated, none)
-6 speed manual transmission
-sunroof package (which comes with the sunroof, multifunction steering wheel, and touchscreen radio)

Comes with bluetooth, heat plaid seats (super comfy), heated mirrors, 18" detroit rims w/thin coating of rubber, and a healthy dose of fun! I love this car. I've actually had it a few days, but have been too busy driving and enjoying it to post about it.

I love the 2.0l turbo, my mom's Tiguan runs with that and it's very nice, your car is lighter it must be even nicer!

It's very nice. The Si is a blast to drive, but if you want to move at anything resembling a quick pace, you had to get the rpms up past 5000 (redlined at 8200). While that was a lot of fun at times, sometimes it got old having to always downshift just to get up a hill or pass someone on the highway. The GTI, on the other hand, has its torque available low down around 1800rpm, which allows me to stay in gear and still pull nicely....and when I want to get moving quick, it'll push you in the seat much better. Plus, it's a smoother and quieter all around more luxurious car compared to the Civic.

The plaid is odd. Is that a factory option or aftermarket?

Not as much gear as a Honda Fit, but the GTI should be a helluva lot more fun to drive! Congrats on a nice, new car!

Factory. All GTIs come with plaid unless you get the autobahn package which comes with leather. It's an homage to the original mk1 gti which had plaid seats.

I think the plaid is kinda badass. I always thought the GOLF was the best thing to come out of VW in the past 20 years.
