When he gets smellier than me, I know it's time to show him the soap ; )

Not enough!

My rottie is getting up there in age, and is getting the old dog stink to him. He's still my buddy though....laying on the floor beside me right now making his case to go outside and get smellier!

Shenandoah is my daughter's service dog, so I bathe her at least once a week. That being said, she starts to get a little funky by the end of the week. If I know we're going to be working a lot (plane trip or such), I'll bathe her the night before.

She hates having a bath, but she sure is snuggly afterwards:

I've got two dogs: a beagle mix, and a purebred Doberman that my wife and I just got around Thanksgiving. I bathed both of them towards the end of November. The beagle is still nice and clean smelling/feeling, but the Dobie feels grimy and smells bad. He's definitely due for a bath.

Basenji's lack oil glands, so are practically odorless as well as barkless.

I think it depends on the length and coarseness of the fur and what it traps, Rocket the Whippet can stay good for a while but the family Border Terrier needs a splash quite often.

We never bathe our Min Pin. She has a thin coat and supposedly sensitive skin. It was recommended to us that bathing was unnecessary. She smells fine,...like a bag of Fritos.

EDIT: Apparently we are supposed to give her an occasional sponge bath. Who knew?

I have a Shiba Inu and I can't really remember the last time I bathed her. She constantly cleans her own fur, like a cat, so unless she rolls in something she doesn't need a bath. At 10 years old she still doesn't have the "old dog smell" yet.

All of this works in my advantage since she hates baths and screams like she is being slowly tortured to death. To give you an idea how enjoyable washing a Shiba is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4JOxB6SJSI

I dont have a dog, though I used to bathe my cat before I was able to get her a flea treatment. These days she does just fine licking herself, unless she gets into that damn jar of curry, again!
Strangely, though, my cat actually likes water (but not baths) and will sit on the edge of the tub as my fiancee bathes. Or she'll try to climb in the shower until she starts getting hit by stray droplets and runs and hides behind the toilet.

I just got a couple of Dachshund pups a couple of months ago. They get bathed about once a week.

The last time I had a dog was about 30 years ago and a bath may have been a seasonal thing at best... a yearly thing for the dog.

I bet you do the same thing, right?

One of my cats used to love jumping into the shower or go swimming in the garden tub when someone was taking a bath. She kinda grew out of that as she got older.

The dog sleeps in my bed, is mostly white, and is obsessed with sitting on laps- he gets a bath once a week.

I never bathe my duck toller.

and strangely she always smells good. even though she is outside 70% of the time.

she can get funky in the summer though.

edit: When she gets sprayed by a skunk. which happens about once a year she get a peroxide, baking soda and dish soap bath.
