How often do you cut your hair if your growing it out long?

I'm growing my hiar out long now and I was wondering how often you get it cut so it continues growing fast and whatnot. From what I've heard, everyone says just get it cut once a month to get the deadends cut off.

Just trim it to keep the split ends off.

Cutting your hair doesn't make it grow quicker.

Your hair grows out from the follicle, not from the tip.

when i want my hair long i just don't cut it at all... for the ends buy a quality conditioner, Goldwell Kerasilk... it's expensive but it's good.

me too, lol!

i never cut mine when i was growing it out. i'd trim the tips every once in a while, but other than that, never.

although one day i went to the beach and it got all tangled and i got REALLY sick of it, and i chopped it all down to the skin....aside from the occasional mo-hawk...its been like that ever since....10 years....i love it!

I guess you can cut the split ends and keep the hair neat at the back of your neck if you want a neater ponytail. I've never heard the theory that cutting/trimming hair will make it grow quicker. I have heard people say it about facial hair, but I don't know about that either. I ain't no barber

Like has been said, trimming the ends to make it grow longer is just a myth, so if you want to keep it longer but neat? Trim the ends conservatively.
You want to grow it? Don't cut it!!

Na, don't do that. That's something hairdressers tell you. You and no one else will notice split ends unless you have a really bad dry hair problem. Condition your hair and don't ever blow dry it and you probably won't have split ends.

If you cut it once a month it will never get longer. It takes about three month to grow signicantly. If you get it trimmed once a month it won't seem to get any longer.

Grow it an inch or so past where you want it, then get it trimmed. But, make sure to be very specific. You only really have to cut off a half inch to get rid of split ends.

Just keep it neet while it gets where you want it. The inbetween stages will prompt people to say you need a hair cut, if you have any sort of body or curl in your hair. Just use some vitalis or something to slick it back and tame it down a bit. Or just wear a bandanna.
