I was 17 when my mom died of some sort of cancer...she smoked for 35 years so the doctors didn't know where the cancer actually started. She was was 54.

Both of mine are still alive, but they're both 40+ years older than me, so when it happens I'm probably still going to be pretty young, and that'll be hard.

My dad died of liver cancer when I was 17, just 6 days after his 49th birthday. My mom is still perfectly healthy.

I am very lucky that both of my parents are alive, but my Father works too hard, doesn't eat healthily enough or get enough exercise - so I worry about him.

I hear that. My dad is in the same boat. Plus his side of the family has a history of heart problems. My grandpa had a triple bypass when he was 60 (if I remember right) and again this past summer. My dad is 54 and IMO is in worse physical condition than my grandpa was. What sucks is that him and I are finally starting to have that father/son relationship I missed out on when I was growing up since he worked so much.

Both my parents and my grandmother died when I was 28. Both parents were smoking related. My grandmother was Alzheimer's.

What a strange topic...
