Question How are the Santa Ana winds treating you ?

I live at the base (haha) of the San Bernardino Mountains right on the san andreas fault line actually. In all of my travels I can not recall such consistently irritating wind. The only time I have ever experienced the intensity of these winds would have to be during the worst of the worst storms in NY. So how are the Santa Ana winds treating you ? It sure makes lighting a cigarette a challenge.

These winds are great for the surf. It hollows them out and makes sections that were otherwise unmakeable, 'makeable' with a barrel ride. I love Santa Ana winds.

The wind keeps knocking over my ******* potted papyrus but otherwise, I like the Santa Anas. They make for a nice, clear day!

But the winds in your area can be horrific. Definitely don't try to fly a kite!

No Santa Ana winds in Covina, but got a taste of them when I visited a friend in fullerton, they can be pretty horrific indeed.

I hate them.
They make the sky and the scenery look nice, but it's like a Hollywood facade - behind those pretty vistas are the dry, itchy skin, the freaked out hair, static electricity everywhere, and general population weirdness. Crime goes up. People are crankier, and more aggressive, and the nights get sooo cold.
Give me a nice, soothing marine layer any day.

There's not much of an effect at home, but I work in Irvine - the part of Irvine that's more like Tustin. It got pretty bad out here this morning. It's cold, everything itches, I keep having to lick my lips, and my hands look like this

Oh man...the dreaded ashy skin! Some folks think it's unmanly to use lotion, but we black dudes don't have much of a choice sometimes!

Gah - the chapping!
I just want to climb into a tub of Blistex creme.

Hmmm...maybe I should have kept that to myself.

Man, it looks worse in real life than it does in the picture. This had to be one of the mornings I took a shower before coming to work, too....

I work right on the boundary of Costa Mesa. Santa Ana is right across the street. I wish they would keep their winds to themselves.

Are your dogs blowing away if you leave 'em untied? That's when we start to call it windy around here...

Drive west on Sunset to the sea
Turn that jungle music down, just until we're out of town
This is no one night stand it's a real occasion
Close your eyes and you'll be there, it's everything they say
The end of a perfect day, distant lights from across the bay

Babylon sisters shake it, Babylon sisters shake it
So fine so young, tell me I'm the only one

Here come those Santa Ana winds again

We'll jog with show folk on the sand, drink kirschwasser from a shell
San Francisco show and tell, well I should know by now
That it's just a spasm, like a Sunday in T.J.
That it's cheap but it's not free, that I'm not what I used to be
And that love's not a game for three

Babylon sisters shake it...

My friends say no don't go, for that cotton candy
Son you're playing with fire, the kid will live and learn
As he watches his bridges burn, from the point of no return

Babylon sisters shake it...
