Palm Treo Users, advice please

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up one of these, APalm treo 650, its on the Verizon netowrk, my question is .....

1: How secure are these in regards to someone intecepting your info off the network? I know I have wireless laptops running WPA Encryption, but is there a need for something like this on these smart phones? The Vz rep told me that their network is very secure that in the event someone was to intercept you data on their VERY SECURE encrypted network, they would only get a small piece of it and basically it would be of no use.

any advice?

I run a MotoQ on VZ, and so far have had no problems.

Our university uses mostly Treos - mine included - and I have not heard of any problems.

I own a Samsung Blackjack, Windows Mobil 5.

WinMo Smartphones are secure enough that most corporate IT departments will accept them for push email. They do not allow the I-Phone.

Blackberries are probably more secure, but you can do so much more with WinMo than RIM.

Well, really, the treos don't have wi-fi, so technically, you don't have to worry about wep/wpa or whatever keys. If someone were to REALLY try to get your info, they'll prob. get it, (stealing the phone, setting up a sniffer box? etc). However, for all practical purposes, I really don't think you have anything at all to worry about. Just make sure you don't leave it lying around, password protect it, and you should be golden.
