I had the same problem, there was no way. I had to buy a $20 software to do it.

Transfer the song files from the hard drive of your old computer to the new one.

It is entirely possible to do with just your ipod. This is assuming that you are using a windows based machine. Plug your ipod into your computer open it in a window, right click, select "show hidden folders". One of them will have all the music in them, but the titles will be messed up, don't worry, itunes will sort all that out, copy and paste.

I was just about to post a thread like this!

...not because I got a new computer, but I did have a REAL BAD virus, it ate everything on my home computer's hard drive, including everything I had in iTunes. But, I still had it all in my iPod...couldn't figure out HOW to get everything matched up, as some stuff shows up in iTunes, but not everything...I'll have to try iamlowsound's solution, and hope...

It also works for putting music onto a mac formatted ipod from a PC. Once again, the title might mess up a bit though, can be fixed in itunes.

Gard, I have the same cotdamn problem. I have a "trojan vundo" virus...it's malicious adware.... my computer is a loss... in a case like this, after having attempted to repair the registry, and reinstalled Windows XP already, to no avail, is it better just to reformat the drive and start over? I already migrated what I could that I purchased from iTunes, and some other stuff onto discs, and all my photos (a few gigs worth fer chrissakes) and yeah...

So would it be good to just wipe the slate clean, and start over?

Yeah, I did SpyBot and all that, and the "hack this!" dummy registry folder to try to quarrantine the Vundo, but it's no use...and all this WITH Norton AntiVirus 2007...thanks, better luck next time/ 60 bucks wasted.... it caught the bug AFTER I had already caught it... effin sucks.

So, yeah...I migrated stuff off and Norton scanned it all as it left... what an insult to injury.

Guess what I'll be doing the next couple days... blech.

Did you open it in a window? I would give you the exact step by step, but I don't have a PC to do it on. Only a mac.

Might have to go to the view thing at the top and see if it has the option.
