How would you handle this?

A friend gave me a Pro Tools disk because it didn't work on his computer. It didn't work at first because I didn't have an interface. I told my friend of the situation and asked him what one he was using so that I could get a similar one.

I buy an interface this morning and wouldn't ya know it, today he tells me he wants the disk back. He said he wants to return his interface because it's a piece of crap.

I don't want to give the disk back. After all, he did give it to me with no stipulations attached and it's not my problem he's unhappy with the interface he bought, which mind you, he was praising about just 3 days ago.

To add insult to injury, I meant to send my brother a message on FB but accidentally sent it to my friend instead. The message reads.

"Wow, what a dick Brain is. He doesn't like the interface that he bought, so now he wants the disk he gave me back so that he can return it all and get a better interface. I actually told him hell no, you gave me that disk and I got an interface now....lmao. I dunno bro, it seems appropriate to me, after all, he did give it to me because he couldn't use the disk on his comp. Not my problem he wants to return the interface now."

It would now appear that I've gotten myself in a pickle. Then again, he sure as hell wouldn't hesitate to say something like that (or worse) to me or anyone else. So maybe I shouldn't sweat it. There are often times I question the validity of his friendship to begin with. I actually saw him more and heard from him more often when he lived 30 miles away than the 10 he does now.

install it and give it back, you don't need the disk to run pro tools.

I'm more concerned about the message I accidentally sent him rather than to my brother.

The disk part isn't really an issue. It's installed on my computer, so I'm not really worried about that.

oooo i have done the same-sent message to wrong person..i tend to do that with texting alot.
I say either make a copy for yourself and give your friend original back or make him buy the interface you bought.
As far as accidentally sending him the message,you can either let it blow over and stay away for awhile or tuck your tail between you legs and apologise to him. Explain to him you were upset and didn't mean to be ugly at the time, but you needed to vent to someone. If he is a true friend then he will forgive you. best of luck!

I myself would apologize for talking about him like that behind his back, however not for calling him what you did. You have every right to call him that and he should have to hear it. If he wants it back that badly, copy it and give it back, but if I were in your shoes, Id let him known what he is being to his face.

if you are concerned about the message, then next time you guys talk, tell him it was a stupid moment and you're sorry. then the ball is in his court; either he lets it go or does not. it doesn't sound like it will rock your world either way.

We had a talk about it earlier today. He let it go and we both pretty much just laughed it off.

I've gotta figure how the hell to use this crap now!
