In Spanish, it can be "bajo", "bajo eléctrico" or "guitarra bajo". Some people call it "bajo de pecho" ("chest bass").

On the other hand, the double bass is just called "contrabajo". Electric upright is called "baby" or "bajo baby", although I prefer to call it "contrabajo eléctrico".

I've always said that I'm a 'bass player' when asked. However, when I talk about my basses I informally refer to them as 'guitars.'

I just have to say that the term "bajo baby" absolutely rocks and is now in my vocabulary.

Polish:

bass - bas (pronounced like in bass the fish)
bass guitar - gitara basowa
electric bass - nobody really refers to the electricity in it, but it would be either "bas elektryczny" or "elektryczna gitara basowa"
double/upright bass - kontrabas
bassist - basista
