OK all TBer's in it's path all up and down the coast, here's the thread to check into with updates, observations and if nothing more just to let everyone know how you're doing.

Let's keep it bumped, keep it updated and a sincere best of luck getting through this folks.

First (useless ) update: NJ, 4:45, it's ironically a nice sunny day outside and had no one been listening to the news, you'd never know a hurricane's bearing down on us. Just got done cutting the lawn....

I live in Cape May County in New Jersey(the most southern tip). Were under mandatory evacuation, all the highways coming down will be shut down by then end of the night. It's suppose to hit us at 7 tomorrow night as a category 1. I've never experienced anything like this, me my girlfriend and my family evacuated to my
Moms boyfriends house about an hour northwest. We live in a mobile home(a nicer one but still a mobile home) down south and I'm worried that's going to be all sorts of messed up when we get back. Fit all my basses in the car with me.. But not all my equipment. Hope the best for everyone out there. Hopefully it will be fine.

TB promotes an open and equal community where all members are treated fairly. Creating threads for only people who fit a certain demographic to post in promotes class distinctions and further pushes us apart while encouraging discrimination. Psych! Just kidding....stay safe kids.

Jerk!

Hop on a plane. You can help me clean up the crap in the yard Monday while we are drinking warm beer.

Wow dude, I've heard that Cape May is going to get smacked hard... Cape May is one of my favorite places on earth too..
I wish you the best of luck, I hope your home and gear survive intact.
If it's any consolation, I've just heard that the storm is weakening slightly more rapidly then they anticipated. we're still going to get hit hard, but if that trend continues it will still be baaad, but maybe not as catastrophic like they're saying now.

Yeah we have the news on here and were keeping in touch with friends we have who aren't evacuating. I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best. Where are you located in NJ?

No man that shiznit was up to my knees already, with all the rain they're predicting, it would be up to my chest by the time I'd be able to cut it again!

I'm just about dead center of the state. Maybe 2 1/2 hour drive north of Cape May

parkway is free today... THERE ARE NO D CELL BATTERIES LEFT IN OCEAN COUNTY!!!!! (good thing my wife's radio takes C cells )

I ran out today to help the wife feel better and picked up an extra case of bottled water and some 'stuff to eat that doesn't need cooking' as well as some extra pet supplies.

Beautiful day out today, I mowed my lawn, assembled a router table, drank a couple beers, picked up the yard... no sign of the storm, but they say it'll hit us early Sunday morning.

I'm here in Far Rockaway, NY. i'm staring at a basement full of equipment. I think the heaviest thing to move will be my Fender Rhodes. I have another one at my church. I may just leave it right there.

We are due to have the eye over us at 7 or 8 pm Saturday night, but well will see the outer bands & tropical storm wind speeds tomorrow morning when it makes landfall in the OBX.

We will see bands of rain tonight and winds rising tomorrow morning. Eye wall should pass over my house by the last tracking at about 7 pm tomorrow, but the storm is so big we will have winds, surge & rain for about 20 hours.... Pretty worried about surge, my condo is only at +3 and 100 yards from the chesapeake bay. On the map I'm on cape Henry, the part of Virginia beach that sticks out into the atlantic.

I guess we (ct) are gonna get Irene early Sunday, and it's gonna be heavy. Oh well, I guess I found another purpose for my zombie survival kit.

I'm pretty much in it's path, at least the western side of it:
27834 Weather Forecast and Conditions

At least the eye is going to pass to the east of me, so we won't get the really bad stuff.

The winds aren't going to be so bad, but they're predicting up to 15" of rain in the next 24 hours.

The first pockets started hitting around 2. It would pour rain for 2 minutes, then the sun would come back out. Actually took the dog for a walk at 5 without a raincoat.

It's been drizzling steady for the last 2 hours. The big stuff is supposed to start hitting around midnight, and last all day tomorrow...

I've been through so many hurricanes I've lost count, including Floyd of 2000, which caused catastrophic flooding here. Fortunately, my house is up on a hill, so I'm pretty much safe from that.

I am very likely going to lose power tomorrow. (Didn't get in on the last $700 generator at Lowes). Will post updates as long as I can.
