It is the same bass they use on their web site here ...

Well I didn't know they have an unwritten code that basses like that should only be sold to those in the inner circle I sold it to someone not in their inner circle. Well after that every time I would post there were certain members that would post hateful things about me. Finally they kicked me out and even changed the rules about who can see things on their for sale page.

That was all years ago and they are still trashing me.

I think I understand some of the hate for Rickenbacker basses and for the company and even for Rickenbacker owners.

I am trying to live above all of that. I like the instruments. I don't like the drama. I guess that is why I am here, because there is more discussion and less drama.
Wait.... They got ticked at you for what????

Jeez! If their skin waas any more thin, their blood would just ooze out of every pore.

Tell them you bought it back and then....modded it! That will really get them going.

Tell them you did a home defret, replaced the pickups with EMG's and put a BadAss bridge on it. Then say "Now it really sings and it's great for slapping!"

It'll be a hit!

If its the board I think it is, I was actually banned from there without making a single post. I joined when I bought my 4003 from the MF sale last year. When I posted HERE about a finish problem I had, I was banned from that board within a few hours. They are....um.....passionate about their instruments over there.

D'ya think?

They banned me for having the nerve to suggest it might be a good idea for RIC to start making their fretless 4003's without the dot inlays on the face of the fingerboard

BLASPHEMY !!!!!

Lucky for me, that was before Hipshot started making a better bridge for the 4000 series. Mentioning that would've probably earned me a midnight attack by ninjas or something.....

I was going to start a website trashing you, but then I thought if I do that, you might not be willing to make me a Rickenbacker Clone someday.

But I did make some snide comments to my wife about you.

Tell 'em the reason you sold it was that your Squier Affinity P-bass was far superior.

That should make a few of them have a stroke.

There was a guy who REALLY wanted that bass. He made a trade with me so he thought I owed him ... then when someone got the bass on ebay with a buy it now the guy was totally livid. I became the guy they all hated. It didn't help that I chided John Hall for his inept attempt at a 5 string bass with the 4004cii5 when he put 4 string pickups on a 5 string bass.

Finally after getting a lot of angry posts directed at me posted a few back. So I was confronted by the site admin and I said if you don't like what I post then kick me off and he did.

The truth is that bass wasn't a really good player. The neck was kind of funky.

The collectors thought it was something exceptional becuse its image was used on the internet ... It was pretty but nothing exceptional. I was going to convert it to a 5 string bass but I thought the neck would be problematic. Some of the 4004 basses have stubborn necks that aren't good for conversion.

I would sometimes post that I like my jazz bass better than my Rick ... just to upset them ... also sometimes it was true.
